The City as a Living Film

Original Mixed Media, Painting on Canvas

Story: She sat by the café window, just as she had so many times before — hands around a warm cup while the city moved past outside like a living film. People passed by with grocery bags, phones, flowers, and thoughts no one else could see. When she was little, her mother used to take her to cafés like this one. They sat together for hours, inventing stories about the people walking by. "Do you see the woman in the red scarf?" her mother would say. "She's probably on her way to meet someone." And that man over there? "He's dreaming of the sea." Back then it was a game. Now, in her fifties, she understood it was about something bigger. Her mother had taught her to see people with curiosity instead of stress — to understand that everyone carries dreams, longing, and invisible stories. Some memories fade with time. Not this one. It lives on in the sound of coffee cups, rain against windows, and people passing outside a café window. And sometimes she still sits there — watching the world, imagining people's lives, and feeling her mother close.

This is the first painting selected for Art Meet, Karlstad on September 3, 2026.
